I Will Strengthen you

Gracious God, this morning we come to You in prayer for the mental health of our nation. This virus effects us all in so many different ways Lord, and we know the strain that it puts on the mental well-being of many people, of all ages. We pray for all those in need of medical support that resources may be made available. We pray that those in authority will recognise the need to provide effective, professional support and we pray for all health care professionals working to help address mental health issues. So too, we pray that as communities we will continue to nurture and support those who are vulnerable and in need of conversation and a listening ear. And we pray for ourselves Lord, however we are feeling at this time. You are our strength and our support and for this we give You thanks. As we take a moment to enter into Your presence, calm any insecurities or concerns we may have this day and give us a sense of Your peace. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God is our Refuge and Strength

Gracious God, as Storm Francis moves over our nation this morning and we hear of rescues already taken place, we place all people into Your safekeeping this day Lord. We pray especially that You will be with all the emergency rescue teams, our Police force, Fire Brigades and Ambulance Service. We pray for our Coastguards, RNLI, Mountain Rescue teams, Air Sea Rescue teams and all other rescue agencies. So too we pray for all those who will go out to mend power lines, clear flooding, protect people’s homes and businesses. We take the opportunity today Lord, to give grateful thanks for the work of all these organisations who come to our rescue when we are in need. May You pour out Your blessing on all those who will respond to the needs of others today and everyday. May they feel the assurance of Your presence, Your strength, and Your protection as they serve others. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.  Amen.

Trust in Him at All Times

Gracious God, when we come to You in prayer, so often we turn to the words of the psalmist. In the Psalms we hear the voices of a people who laid their desires, their anxieties, their joys, their hopes and their vulnerabilities before You. And yet in You they placed their trust, in You they sort refuge. And so Lord God, at the start of a new day, we sit for a moment in the quiet and bring ourselves to You, knowing that You love us for who we are, and that You want nothing more than that we share today with You. Help us to open our hearts and not be afraid to be open and honest with You about how we are feeling this day. May You walk beside us and through the power of Your Holy Spirit, may we feel the joy, the peace and the security that comes from being loved by You. We praise You and we thank You for your unfailing love. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Psalm 36:7

Gracious God, we come to You in prayer this morning remembering the needs of all our young people. As the debate continues over A level exam results, we ask that you will be with all those experiencing disappointment and heartache at this time, as they reassess future plans. We know Lord that many youngsters will be waiting anxiously for GCSE results this coming Thursday. Please give them a sense of calm and assurance amidst the stress of waiting. We pray that authorities adopt systems that ensure fair and just results for all our children. And so too Lord, we pray for the many young people seeking employment in this increasingly difficult work environment. Lord God, we acknowledge the impact the health crisis is having on the mental well-being of everyone in society, but today we particularly lift before You the emotional concerns of our younger generation, as they seek to make sense of the instability of the world around them. As we place them under the shadow of Your wings, give them courage, give them assurance and give them peace. In the Name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

He Heals the Brokenhearted

Gracious God, with sadness we lift before you this morning the people of Lebanon, following the explosion yesterday. We pray for those grieving the loss of loved ones, for those injured, for all medical staff trying to deal with the tragedy in hospitals already struggling to cope with Covid 19. So too Lord, we pray for all those who have now lost their homes or their businesses, as a result of the blast. Lord God, in a country already dealing with political unrest, food shortages, Covid 19 and a health system struggling to cope, this tragedy comes at a critical time. We pray that financial and medical support will be provided urgently to help the people of Lebanon deal with this additional crisis. We pray for all those in leadership tasked with coordinating a response, and we pray that leaders of other nations will give their support. May your Holy Spirit pour out healing and  compassion across the land of Beirut, Amen.

Gracious God, as charities unite as part of the Disasters Emergency Committee, we pray for  the crisis unfolding in countries overseas. We pray for countries where people already live with the pain and suffering of war, conflict and poverty, where people  have been displaced from their homes and are now dealing with the threat of Covid 19 against which they are defenceless. Lord God, we pray for wisdom, understanding,  cooperation and a sense of urgency to deliver ppe equipment, medical resources and hygiene products to those communities most in need. We pray for strength and courage for medical staff and aid workers already working on the ground in difficult circumstances. Lord God, may we  do whatever we can to support our brothers and sisters. We pray in the name of Jesus who reached out with hands of healing and compassion,  Amen.

Galatians 6:2

Gracious God, as communities continue to plan the route forward as the next stage of the health situation enfolds, we take a moment to reflect upon those whose lives will be forever changed; those who are still mourning the loss of loved ones to Covid 19, those who live with the health issues the virus has left behind. So too, we remember those who are still unwell, either in hospital or at home. And of course we continue to pray for NHS workers who juggle with the demands of providing a health care system of which Covid is still a part. Lord God, pour out Your compassion, Your healing, Your understanding and Your love into our world. Please help us as a community to be sensitive to the needs of other, and do what we can to offer our spiritual and practical support. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Thank You NHS

Gracious God, as we celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the NHS on Sunday 5th July, we give thanks again for this amazing organisation. We remember and give thanks for the millions of staff who have worked tirelessly to care for people over the years. We think of all the pioneering medical professionals who have developed groundbreaking surgical procedures, treatments, vaccinations and systems of care. So too we think of every ambulance driven, every treatment given, every form completed, every bed changed, every meal prepared, every ward cleaned and every hand held. Lord God, as we reflect, we acknowledge the extreme pressures upon the NHS today. We pray that those in positions of authority and administration will be equipped to deal with the challenges ahead and provided with the support they need. We place  every member of the NHS team and every patient into Your loving care. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thy Word is a Lamp Unto my Feet

Gracious God, as we continue to live in uncertain times, help us to remember to turn to Your Holy Word, as found in scripture, for guidance and assurance. May we hear You speaking to us through the pages of Your written Word. May we take encouragement from the testimonies of generations past, hope for the present and the  promise of Your eternal love for the future. May Your Holy Word be a living, breathing document that will guide us and inspire us to continue to place our trust in You.  Amen.
